Aggravated Battery suspect charged following Officer-Involved Shooting

Suspect: Jeremy Waste, 30, Garden City

Charges: Assault-Aggravated (F) Battery- Aggravated (F), Enhancement-Use of a Deadly Weapon in Commission of a Felony (F)

This afternoon Boise Police were searching for suspect, Jeremy Waste, who was wanted on a warrant for Aggravated Battery. At 4:45 pm officers were notified that a subject matching the description of the suspect was seen in the area of Red Cedar Ln. and Lake Forest Dr. Shortly after 5:30 pm a Boise Police officer located Waste in a parking lot nearby. The officer attempted to take him into custody and Waste pulled out a weapon and attempted to injure the officer. A second officer was forced to discharge his duty weapon injuring the suspect. Officers provided life-saving care before paramedics arrived. Waste was transported to the hospital in stable condition. He was released from the hospital and booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charges.

The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force (CITF) led by the Meridian Police Department has been activated to investigate the shooting.  Any video evidence will be reviewed as part of the investigation. The information in this news release is considered preliminary pending the results of the CITF investigation. The two officers involved in this incident were not injured and are on paid administrative leave per department policy.

Previous Aggravated Battery Incident: On Friday shortly after 6:30 pm Boise Police responded to the 2000 block of E. Mokena Dr. for a reported Aggravated Battery. Evidence indicates the suspect, Jeremy Waste, stabbed a person known to him and fled from the location. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. This incident resulted in the warrant for Aggravated Battery and Use of a Deadly Weapon in Commission of a Felony.
