MERIDIAN- The City of Meridian seeks applicants for its Neighborhood Grant Program. Neighborhood Grant funding is available for residents and organizations who would like to lead an improvement project on public property or an easement within the City limits. The focus of this grant is to assist those interested in positively impacting neighborhoods through updating features, adding elements, or beautification projects. A total of $50,000 has been allocated for the Neighborhood Grant program. There is no minimum, but a maximum of $50,000 may be requested per project, and applicants may request funds for more than one project.
“Residents within our neighborhoods play an important part to the services we provide and the makeup of our city. This grant program is an opportunity for residents to propose projects that will enhance just that,” said Mayor Robert Simison. “It enables residents who have had an idea about a way to improve a park, pathway, or other public space and take it from concept to reality. I look forward to seeing what projects are submitted for the betterment of Meridian.”
The Neighborhood Grant Program has created a new way for civic leaders to engage with the community. In the program's first year, long-term civic opportunities were created by community partners, including an upcoming pollinator garden at Heroes Park, a flag disposal program through the American Legion, and a universal design upgrade at Bear Creek playground. The grant has produced more robust relationships between elected officials, city staff, the community, and other agencies. This program has allowed staff to work with community members on items Meridian citizens care about in neighborhoods around the City of Meridian.
The application period for the Meridian Neighborhood Grant Program opened today and the deadline to apply is March 6, 2023, 5 PM. Grants will be awarded to successful residents and organizations who complete the application process and are chosen by the selection panel. Funded projects will provide a public benefit to all members of the Meridian community.
Interested residents and organizations are encouraged to visit Meridian’s Neighborhood Grant website to learn more about the program and what they will need to successfully apply. More information and grant applications can be found HERE.
