Idaho U.S. Representative Russ Fulcher took the opportunity on Tuesday to recognize three firefighters who were ambushed while attending to a wildfire near Coeur d’Alene last month. The incident involved Battalion Chiefs John Morrison and Frank Harwood, who were fatally shot by a gunman near Canfield Mountain. Fire Engineer Dave Tysdal was also injured in the attack but survived, and he is credited with warning other responders to stay away from the mountain.

“This evil act against our firefighters does not represent the Idaho way,” Fulcher stated. “I ask all Idahoans and Americans to pray for full recovery for Mr. Tysdal; for comfort for all families involved. These men represent the very best of Idaho. Their courage, heroism and dedication will never be forgotten.”
